What is redundancy and how does it work?

What must be ensured before an employee is made redundant?
Although redundancy can serve as a valid reason for termination, it is essential for an employer to establish a genuine redundancy situation to ensure a justifiable dismissal. This means that an employee’s contract should not be terminated because they are disliked. The employer must adhere to a fair procedure, including consulting with impacted employees and actively seeking alternative employment opportunities.
