N Power are planning to cut 4,500 jobs!
After facing a loss of £99m in 2016, in which they cut 2,400 jobs, N power, the smallest of the big 6 energy providers, announced plans to cut another 4,500 jobs. According to our source, staff have been worried about their jobs for months and now their fears are to be confirmed less than a month before Christmas.
N power employs roughly 5,700 staff in the UK meaning, these cost saving changes could lead to closure of most of their UK sites, though they did not confirm exactly how many employees would be redundant. Their plan involves making cuts in its IT infrastructure and customer service, and opting for a more digitalised structure.
N Power has been at a loss for the last four years in spite of numerous job cuts and restructuring efforts. It cut 900 jobs in January this year due to “intense competition” and the governments price cap on standard tariffs. Employees are now faced with their biggest cut yet.
“It is only right and fair that colleagues are informed first of any possible changes and we will be making no further comment at this time,” and EON spokesman said.
