5 Tips: Bringing a Medical Negligence Claim

In relation to anybody that has suffered as a result of negligent medical treatment is that here at Taylor Bracewell we are so very sensitive to how you must be feeling in relation to the loss of trust in the medical establishment we truly understand that.

Tip 1 – Follow medical advice and guidance

The first tip that I have to give in any claim following failed medical treatment is that you need to follow medical advice and medical guidance for your well-being. Here at Taylor Bracewell, every client of ours is an absolute priority. Their well-being is at the forefront of our minds and whilst we recognize that trust and confidence may have been lost in the service and provision of medical treatment, the first place to start is to work on the path of your recovery and that involves the medical treatment that is available to you.

Tip 2 – Contact a solicitor as soon as possible

The second tip I would give to anybody that is concerned about the medical treatment they’ve received and if they feel that the medical treatment has failed in any way is to contact a solicitor at your earliest opportunity. Dealing with medical negligence claims is covered by many different protocols and regulations and by speaking to a solicitor at the earliest possible stage you will be guided through that process to ensure that you get the best possible result you can.

Tip 3 – Record as much information as possible

The third tip is to record as much information as you possibly can about the treatment that you’ve received and why you feel it has gone wrong. This can involve obtaining information from your friends, family and loved ones as whilst you’ve been receiving your medical treatment they will probably have information that they can give to you that you might not otherwise be aware of.

Recording as much information as you can at the earliest possible stage will help me to help you through the process.

Tip 4 – Keep a diary of all events concerning your claim

The fourth tip I would give to anybody considering making a medical negligence claim is to keep a diary. Keep a diary of all events that you consider relevant to the treatment you’ve received. Even before you went for the treatment what was it that resulted in the need for that treatment, keep a full detailed record of what happened before the treatment and keep a record of anything and everything that you consider relevant that happens afterwards.

This is so valuable not only immediately now but also in the future. It allows you to keep a record of any and all appointments that you’ve attended it, allows you to keep a record of things that have been said to you, it allows you to keep a record of all any and all expenditures that you’ve incurred including travel expenses to your appointments, any losses that you’ve incurred including loss of earnings all that information is helpful for me to be able to help you.

Tip 5 – Keep all receipts for costs you have incurred as a consequence of the negligence

My last tip is to keep receipts for any and all expenditures that you have incurred as a consequence of the failed medical treatment and any and all losses that are to be incurred in the future going forward. With those receipts, I can ensure that I can do whatever I possibly can to recover the maximum amount of damages for the trauma that you’ve suffered.

Here at Taylor Bracewell, we will guide you through that process to help you succeed in the maximum possible compensation we can secure on your behalf. "I have recently sold my property in Liverpool and Peter Caswell at Taylor Bracewell Solicitos acted on my behalf and he was outstanding. This was a very difficult sale due to the fact that the other party's solicitors was excessive in their demand and clearly ignorant but Peter was very patient during what ended up being a long drawn out process. Peter maintained professionalism..."

"Really informative and clear initial call - took the time to listen to my situation, understand what was needed and answer all my questions. One small mistake in the first draft of the Will (no-one’s perfect!) but quickly rectified. Peace of mind that everything is looked after if I die."
