6 Tips: Bringing a Personal Injury Claim

Taylor Bracewell
The first thing to say to anybody that’s just suffered an injury, a trauma through the fault of any third party is that here at Taylor Bracewell we truly recognise that it’s a harrowing time but to give six tips on what I would recommend you do immediately following an accident going forward is as follows:
Tip 1 – Report the accident
I’d firstly advise you to report the accident. The person you report your accident to will differ depending on where the injury had taken place. Here are a few examples: Report road traffic accidents to the police, report injury in a public place to the local authority and reporting an accident in a supermarket to the supermarket. The reason we recommend this is so that they can report the injury on their files, this could also be called an accident book. They should also provide first aid on site.
Tip 2 – Seek and follow medical advice for your injuries
The second tip is always to follow medical advice. Reporting the incident to your doctor equally means that your accident and the consequences of that accident with the injury sustained is recorded in your medical records. I’m able to use their medical records later on your behalf.
Tip 3 – Seek advice from a solicitor
The third tip is at the earliest opportunity contact a solicitor. They will be able to fill any of the missing gaps of what you need to best protect your position.
Here at Taylor Bracewell we take great pride in promoting you, the person, that suffered as an absolute priority. We focus on not just your compensation claim but also your well-being so I would urge you to contact us at the earliest opportunities so that we can help you.
Tip 4 – Keep a record of everything
The fourth tip is record as much information as you possibly can. This may be photographs of an accident location or the injury that you’ve suffered. The circumstances of the accident being written down at an early stage are more contemporaneous, it’s more in your memory what has just happened than something that you try and write down in a couple of months or in a year’s time. I would encourage you to record everything as soon as you possibly can.
Tip 5 – Keep a diary of all events
I would encourage you to keep a diary of all events that you consider relevant to your accident and also to the injury that you’ve sustained. Your diary can include appointments that you’re attending and things that have been discussed in your appointment. It can include all expenditure that you’ve incurred or all losses that have been incurred as a consequence of your accident or your injury.
Tip 6 – Keep all receipts of your expenses as a result of the injury
The sixth and final tip is I would encourage you to keep all receipts for all expenditures so that I can then evidence your losses on your behalf and secure the maximum possible compensation award for you.
