What is a Beneficiary and can they also be an Executor of my Will?

A Beneficiary is the person who receives an asset from you on your death. It might be a specific gift that they receive, an amount of money or an item of jewellery or it could be everything you own the day you die.

There’s nothing to stop this Beneficiary from also being an Executor but you need to be careful if the gift is conditional. For example, you couldn’t say that you want your child who is under 18 to be the Executor and Beneficiary because someone under 18 cannot be an Executor.
