National Road Victim Month: How to bring a Personal Injury claim

Making a personal injury claim after being involved in a road traffic accident can be a daunting and stressful process. This article explains what National Road Victim month is and the steps you should follow to bring a personal injury claim following a road traffic accident.

What is National Road Victim Month?

National Road Victim month is an event set up by the RoadPeace charity and is observed every August. Its aim is to raise awareness and remember the victims of road traffic accidents. It was originally set up to commemorate the death of Princess Diane, who was killed in a car accident, on 31st August 1997 and the first death by motor vehicle, Bridget Driscoll, in 1896.

What events take place during National Road Victim Month?

There are different events which take place throughout the UK during August.

The RoadPeace Wood:

Every year on the second Saturday of August, a memorial service takes place at the RoadPeace Wood memorial. This year it will take place on the 12th August.

The RoadPeace Wood is located at the National Memorial Arboretum, a place where the lives of loved ones are remembered by living trees. It is located at the edge of the National Forest at Alrewas, Staffordshire.

Liverpool Ceremony of Remembrance:

This memorial ceremony takes place every year on 31st August at Liverpool Cathedral, to remember Princess Diana’s death and all other victims of road traffic accidents.

How can Taylor Bracewell help you bring a road traffic accident personal injury claim?

There are different steps that you will need to complete if you have been involved in a road traffic accident.

  1. Report the accident to the police. They will record any injuries and provide first aid if needed.
  2. Seek and follow all medical advice. This will then be recorded on your medical record which can be used later down the line.
  3. Seek advice from a solicitor. They will help you get any further information that you may need to bring a claim.
  4. Keep a record of everything. This may be photographs of an accident location or the injury that you’ve suffered.
  5. Keep a diary of events. Your diary can include appointments that you’re attending and things that have been discussed in your appointment.
  6. Keep receipts from any expenses incurred.

"I have recently sold my property in Liverpool and Peter Caswell at Taylor Bracewell Solicitos acted on my behalf and he was outstanding. This was a very difficult sale due to the fact that the other party's solicitors was excessive in their demand and clearly ignorant but Peter was very patient during what ended up being a long drawn out process. Peter maintained professionalism..."

"Really informative and clear initial call - took the time to listen to my situation, understand what was needed and answer all my questions. One small mistake in the first draft of the Will (no-one’s perfect!) but quickly rectified. Peace of mind that everything is looked after if I die."
