Yorkshire Day takes place annually on the 1st August, since being established in 1975. It aims to promote and celebrate the historic county of Yorkshire.
What happens on Yorkshire Day 2023?
Every Yorkshire Day there is a civic gathering of Mayors, Lord Mayors and other civic heads from different towns and cities across the county. A different Yorkshire town or city hosts the events each year. This then means they become the official town/city of Yorkshire for the year.

The town hosting Yorkshire Day 2023 is Rotherham, meaning Rotherham will be the official Yorkshire town for 2023/2024.
The running of events for Yorkshire Day 2023
10am: A meet and greet brunch at Rotherham town hall
11am: Mayors parade from Rotherham town hall to Rotherham minster
11:30am: Thanksgiving dinner and Rotherham minster and the handing over of the official Yorkshire flag
12:30pm: Departure on vintage buses to Wentworth House
1:15pm: A 3 course dinner and tours of Wentworth House
4pm: Civic reception ends
